Learning Ethics in AI—Teaching Non-Engineering Undergraduates through Situated Learning

Learning about artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the most discussed topics in field education. However, it an equally important learning approach contemporary education to propose a “general education” agenda that conveys instructional messages AI basics and ethics, especially for those students without engineering background. The current study proposes situated design on this topic. Through three-week lesson session accompanying activities, participants undertook hands-on tasks relating AI. They were also afforded opportunity learn attributes how these may apply understanding AI-related ethical issues or problems daily life. A pre- post-test was used compare effects with respect different aspects (e.g., understanding, cross-domain teamwork, attitudes, ethics) among participants. found positive correlation all factors, as well strong link between attitudes hand ethics other. implications findings are discussed, suggestions made possible future revisions research.
